First Rays Of Sunshine
Friday November 13, 2009 - This past Monday tribal attorney,
Susan Aasen, was informed her services were no longer needed
and was relieved of duty. Its no secret Ms. Aasen has been the
focus of several BRANews stories highlighting a corrupt legal
system which no longer has the people of Bad River's best
interests in mind. BRANews had first reported her as more of a
private attorney for ex-chair Bigboy instead of representing the
Bad River tribe as a whole. Aasen played key roles in the State
of Emergency Declaration (which criminalized the people's
right to peacefully assemble), the misrepresentation of our
Constitution, the formulation of several detrimental contracts,
and her assistance in helping former chairman Bigboy delay the
people's right to a recall election by filing an injunction through
our tribal courts. She was also witnessed assisting ex-chairman
Bigboy in orchestrating the hijacking of our tribal government. It
is also noted that Don Wilkes (accounting head) and Joe
Maday (tribal operations mgr.) handed in their resignations on
Monday. What's the matter guys, afraid of a little accountability?
As you may recall, Mr. Maday was involved in the wrongful
termination of an employee of several years who was falsely
accused of theft. These accusations were proven to be fictitious
by proof of video surveillance footage. People may lie, but the
tape never will. This employee hasn't been cleared to return to
work as of yet. BRANews also reported Maday's abuse of power
by banning certain tribal membership from the casino. There are
also reports of newly elected treasurer, Etta Burns, meeting
strong opposition by council member, Bonnie Greene (Bigboy),
and other certain employees in the accounting department when
attempting to obtain certain financial information. We are
confident in our tribal treasurer's leadership and her ability to
rectify this situation. Well folks, So far, so good, one week under
new leadership and things already seem a little brighter here in
Bad River!
