Coming Home
Thursday April 14, 2010 - During the 20th Century in an
effort to prevent the Federal Government's attempts to
dismantle our Drums, The Bad River People sent two Drums
to Kansas, Nebraska. For 89 years these People have
selflessly cared for and protected our beloved Drums. Flash
forward to present day.. The People now feel it is time to
return one of these Drums back to Bad River. A group of
Tribal Members have already begun the Spiritual Process
by tediously going door to door around the entire
Community with Offerings of Tobbacco. Members hope to
make their Journey sometime in the beginning of May and
bring our Drum back Home to Bad River. There is a
Community Meeting on Saturday May 17th at the Bad River
Housing Authority, at which time Membership will discuss the
responsibilties and tasks involved with bringing our Drum
back Home. Tribal Members are looking for Financial and
Communtiy support their efforts. The Big Drum Homecoming
is a tremendous opportunity for our Community to take a
united step outside the political realm and get involved in a
really genuine cause. BRANews would like to assist our
fellow brothers and sisters in their efforts. There is a
Donation Can at Three Eagle's Gift & Smoke Shop. Our
readers may also send their Check and Money Orders to
BRANews 54595 Johnson Rd. Ashland WI, 54806, c/o Tom
Deragon Jr. Let's all pitch in and welcome our Drum home!
