Brighter Smiles In Bad River
Sunday April 18, 2010 - I'm sure everyone reading this has had a
toothache or required immediate dental care at some point in their lives.
Speaking for myself and as a father of four, I can safely say that often
times, the term immediate is unfortunately almost unheard of when
describing emergency Dental Care. Let's face it, the tedious painstaking
chore of playing phone tag with unfamiliar receptionists in itself, is
enough to send a person to the clutches of insanity. Usually by the time
we have answered the Dental Clinic's third question, we are told we
cannot be helped. Most area Dental Clinics cringe at IHS or BadgerCare
and will abruptly end the conversation. Often times when we are able to
secure care it is out of town, several miles away, such as Redcliff or
Ironwood. I even met a young mother who travels all the way to
Wausau! Those of us proud parents can relate with the struggles and
preparation involved in taking a small child(ren) anywhere, let alone
several miles to the Dentist.
Wouldn't it be nice if things were simpler...I mean life shouldn't be this
hard right? Imagine the tremendous positive impact having our own
Dental Clinic on the rez would have on our already busy lives. Now lets
take our imaginations even one stretch further, envision a Dental Clinic
that comes to you! Invigorating isn't it? Just the mere notion gives me
goose bumps. Finally no more pleading with annoyed receptionists just
for the consideration to be placed on a list longer than a Strom
Thurmond filibuster. No more long tear-filled, stuffy car rides. At long
last a friendly, familiar receptionist who welcomes our patronage. After
the presentation at the last Council Meeting, wheels are already in
motion and dreams have become serious possibilities. Now more than
ever, we must look to increase our Revenue tribe-wide and look to
expand Enterprise at a broader level other than just Gaming. With that
being said, I do believe the Dental Clinic would be the cause of many
bright smiles here in Bad River.
